Regrettably, the pandemic has extended the building works associated with the new Life and Mind building. This, combined with social distancing guidelines, means we are unable to provide work experience places for the 2020-2021 academic year
Applications for an academic year usually open from 1st October of that year.
The deadline for Easter applications is the 31st of January.
The deadline for applications for the Summer period is 31st March.
1. Write a covering letter
Clearly explain why you would like to pursue work experience in your chosen field (Laboratory assistant or HR assistant).
2. Write a CV.
3. Complete the Online Application Form and attach your covering letter and CV.
OR fill in the offline version of the form then email the form, covering letter and CV to email@example.com.
Take care to indicate the type of work experience you are interested in and ensure that you include the dates you wish to be considered for.
Placements are not offered during university terms - term dates can be found here.
Ask a school teacher (or someone in a similar role) to send a reference to the department clearly stating why you would be suitable for the position you have applied for. The reference should be submitted by email: firstname.lastname@example.org .
We are often overwhelmed with applications for work experience, so please be patient with us. We will get back to you as soon as possible after the appropriate deadline.
Students will not be offered a place in a research laboratory.
Students under the age of 16 will not be offered work experience placements.
Accommodation, travel and food are not provided for work experience students. Please take this into consideration before applying for work experience.
