New Teaching Labs and Reduced Outreach 2018

Oxford University is in the process of building new teaching laboratories for our undergraduate students. While these labs are much anticipated it does unfortunately mean we will have to reduce the amount of outreach we can offer to give the staff the opportunity to move all the equipment to the new labs. The move and subsequent reduction of outreach will take place between May and October 2018.

We will be taking applications for 2017-18 from 1st October 2017, the application procedure is as follows:-

  1. Fill in this form. Take care to indicate the type of work experience you are interested in and ensure that you include the dates you wish to be considered for.
  2. Write a covering letter clearly explaining why you would like to pursue work experience in your chosen field (Laboratory assistant, Communications assistant, Facilities team member or Administrative assistant).
  3. Write a CV.
  4. Attach these completed documents and send by email to The Work Experience Team.
  5. Ask a school teacher (or someone in a similar role) to send a reference to the department clearly stating why you would be suitable for the position you have applied for. The reference should be submitted by email: chem-workexperience@chem.ox.ac.uk .

We are often overwhelmed with applications for work experience, so please be patient with us. We will get back to you as soon as possible after the appropriate deadline.

The deadline for Easter applications is the 26th of January 2018.

The deadline for summer applications is the 30th of March 2018.

Students will not be offered a place in a research laboratory.

Students under the age of 16 will not be offered work experience placements.

Accommodation, travel and food are not provided for work experience students. Please take this into consideration before applying for work experience.
