The Lectures
The department of chemistry runs a series of lectures throughout the year which are aimed at a variety of different age groups, from primary schools up to and including the general public.
The Department of Chemistry regularly present demonstration lectures which are suitable for students of all ages. These energetic and exhilarating displays of chemistry demonstrate catalysts, temperature change and the effect of carbon dioxide on the environment in a way that students can associate with.
These lectures are only available for larger groups (minimum audience of 30).
The lecture demonstration can take between 60 to 90 minutes depending on the age of the audience. For more senior students aspects of the chemistry behind the demonstration are examined in greater detail.
These events normally take place in an Oxford University lecture hall however special arrangements can be made for them to take place elsewhere. We are happy to discuss with you what we can offer. Please fill out this form and email it to outreach@chem.ox.ac.uk.
