Department of Chemsitry

Work experience in the Department of Chemistry

The department of Chemistry welcomes pupils aged 16 or over for work experience.

The department offers 3 different types of work experience:-

  • Teaching lab Assistant - Depending upon the dates available, the experience on offer for this type of work will vary between helping out to ensure that the lab runs smoothly for the the undergraduates to helping to iron out any issues with experiments used within our Outreach and/or undergraduate practicals.
  • Administrative Assistant -  this experience will allow a student to discover what it is like to work in a busy office.
  • Facilities team member - this experience will enable the student to discover what it takes to run a large science building.

Please note that as a result of our strict health and safety policy, students will not be offered a place in a research group.

If you are interested by any of the placements above, the application procedure is as follows:-

  1. Fill in the form that you can find on the right hand side of this page. Take care to indicate the type of wok experience you are interested in.
  2. Write a covering letter clearly explaining why you would like to pursue work experience in your chosen field within this department.
